Who exactly is running this thing?

I - that is to day Daysha Clark - am an independent freelance photographer under the brand DC Imageworks. I've been serving families and community organizations in Hampton Roads since 2014.

You can learn more about my story as a photographer and see my work HERE

I am also an experienced teacher. In addition to homeschooling two middle-grade boys, I'm entering my fourth year as a classroom instructor for homeschool communities.

I offered photography and sewing classes at PATHS of Hampton Roads from 2023-2026, and currently offer photography instruction through Building Steam, founded by Juliette Bellinger.

When We Meet:

1st Friday of each month

9:30am - 11:30am

Field Trip Days

New Location Each Month

Each Month we'll have a new location in Hampton Roads to visit, and a theme and/or prompt to guide our shooting time. We'll meet, have a brief discussion of that month's topic, and spend the rest of our time exploring our location with our cameras.

Parents and siblings are invited and encouraged but not required to tag along.

3rd Monday of each month

9:30am - 11:30am

Gather & Gallery

Coaster Coffee

8418 Tidewater Drive

Norfolk

This will be our time to gather, share our favorite shots from our field trip in a gallery critique format, and share other photography work with our mentor and peers as desired. Members may also use this time to get assistance with editing, curating, or receive help with technical questions related to photography during this meeting. And also to vibe with our fellow photographers.

We have access to the beautiful private conference room in Coaster Coffee for these meetings. The coffee shop itself is comfortable and very family-friendly, and is located across the street from a large city park with playgrounds, green space, and a skate park. Coaster is also within 10 minutes of the Ward's Corner retail area, Southern Shopping center, and Ocean View beaches.

Any changes to the stated schedule will always be discussed as a group and announced no less thantwo weeks in advance via email where available, and through the Band App. We will follow the City of Norfolk with regards to severe inclement weather, and decisions to cancel or reschedule will be confirmed via Band no later than 9pm the previous evening.

What we are (and are not).

Homeschool Photography Club is designed to be a social and mentorship group to provide field shooting opportunities, community, and an environment for growth for homeschooled teen photographers in grades 8-12. This not a class for credit, so I will not be recording or reporting grades or giving homework assignments.

We are not able to provide child minding for younger siblings under any circumstances - any children under 13 MUST be under the direct supervision of a parent, and all families are responsible for arranging drop-off and pick-up for club participants to both Gather & Gallery days and Field Trip days promptly.

I am here to guide your teens as photographers, and to be the adult in the room on field trips. When on field trips, I am responsible for their general safety, supervision, photographic edification. They are fully responsible for their choices.

The Homeschool Photography Club has no explicit trade, barter, or other promotional agreements with Coaster Coffee, Building STEAM, or any other external organization, and is not an entity of DC Imageworks. No information gathered for the administration of the Homeschool Photography Club will ever be used in any capacity for marketing or promotion for DC Imageworks services.

There is a small fee - $20/month

Call it dues. This small fee compensates for my prep time for each months meetings, which is not tremendous, but is also not zero, and the time spent moderating the Band page for the group. This also helps offset meeting space, gas, and coffee costs =)

If your family has siblings attending Photography Club, dues for additional members will be $10/month, with a cap of $40/family.

Dues should be paid via Vemno (@dayshaclark) or PayPal (dcimageworks757@gmail.com) prior to the first meeting of the month, or may be paid in cash the day of our first meeting of the month.
